Outlaws compete at state swim meet

Sisters brought four girls to the state swimming championships held at Mt. Hood Community College on Friday and Saturday, February 19-20, and Brooke Robillard and Hawley Harrer both made it to the finals.

Hawley Harrer swam in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Harrer made it to the finals in both events. Hawley finished sixth in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.60, and took fifth in the 100 freestyle with a time of 57.12.

"Both of these races were incredibly fast this year," said Coach Brittany Morioka. "The winner of the 100 free swam a 52.18. To put that into perspective, that is faster than the Sisters High School boys' 100 freestyle school record."

Brooke Robillard also swam the 100 freestyle. Brooke did not make it to the finals, but placed seventh overall with a time of 57.44.

Robillard swam to a sixth-place finish in the 100 breaststroke finals with a time of 1:13.40.

"Both Brooke and Hawley will be great 100-freestyle swimmers next year, and will contribute a lot to the 400 freestyle relay," said Morioka. "Brooke is only a freshman, so she can only go up from here,"

Robillard, Harrer, Tara Greaney and Madelyn Zadow competed in the 200 freestyle relay. They were seeded 10th with a time of 1:51.31. The girls were unable to make it into the finals, but they did drop a second off their time for a season best of 1:51.70, and an eighth-place finish.
