Karen passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on December 23, 2015, near Sisters.
She was an amazing mother, a loving wife, a wonderful grandmother, and a special sister.
Karen was born with her twin sister, Sharon, on June 15, 1941 to Fred Ryan and Irene Martin in Newberg, Oregon. She attended Sisters High School, where she met her husband Leonard. They were married on August 27, 1960, in a double wedding with her twin sister. Karen and Leonard spent 23 years in the military, living in many places in the U.S. and overseas. Following retirement, they built their dream home near Sisters, which has an incredible view of her favorite mountains.
Karen loved spending time with her granddaughters, and her family and friends. She loved traveling, shopping, playing golf with her husband and sister. She loved the sound of the ocean and made many trips to the beach and various casinos.
Karen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Leonard Langeliers; her daughters Kristi, LeAnn, and Lisa Langeliers; her granddaughters Isabel, Ava, and Josephine Fries; son-in-law Casey Fries; sisters Sharon Nesbitt and Marlene Glasgow; and brother Doug Cole.
Karen had a beautiful smile, a sparkle in her eyes and a contagious laugh. She will be greatly missed, and will always remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Sisters, 68825 Brooks Camp Rd.
