Ray Bowlin passed peacefully from life at the age of 75. He was born in Southgate, California, to parents Charles Chester Bowlin and Betty Louise Bowlin. He grew up in Southern California and went to school in Long Beach.
Ray came to Sisters in 1978 and started a wrecker business, which he ran until 2008 when he retired at the age of 68. Ray ran the wrecker business for many years with the help of Mary Chamberlain.
Ray loved to hunt and fish in the Sisters area, and loved his dog Brese and his many pet cats. His favorite football team was the Oakland Raiders. Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Gail; brothers Roger and Charles Bowlin; and his sons Danny and Eddie Bowlin. He is survived by his Sister Charlene Halverson; brother Jim Johnson; and sons Shawn and Shane Bowlin. Ray's first cousin Claude Barnes, and second cousin Todd Barnes also live in Sisters. Ray's nephews and nieces are James, Jason, and
Tara from Jim Johnson's family; and Kim, Brenda, and Sheri from Charlene Halverson's family. Ray's grandchildren include Breanna, Jordan, Miles and Rainey; Larissa, Jordan, and Elizabeth.
A celebration of life and potluck is being planned for Sunday, May 15 at 1 p.m., at Rollins Automotive, 267 Sisters Park Drive in Sisters or contact Jim Johnson at 541-420-1561.
