News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show is the biggest outdoor quilt show in the world - and it has spun off a number of satellite displays around Sisters Country.
A Quilt Show and Luncheon at Black Butte Ranch (BBR) is set for Friday, July 8. The show runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; lunch is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This is an annual event that includes an outdoor quilt show, deli lunch buffet, handcrafted pot-holders for sale and opportunity quilt tickets.
The event is held on the Lodge lawn and deck, and features some 40 to 50 quilts. Proceeds from this event benefit BBR Art Guild donations for scholarships and art programs at local schools.
In coordination with the quilt show, the Lodge Gallery dedicates the whole month of July as "Quilt Month."
This year features a special dedication to the late Marti Bradley-Kufchak, a longtime BBR homeowner and member of BBR's "Peggy's Pin Pals," who passed away this year. Marti was a prolific master quilter, producing over 70 quilts in her last years.
All quilts on display at the Lodge this July will be those made by Marti, in honor of her contributions to the Black Butte Ranch quilting group.
Kufchack died last March, and quilt group member Judi Benson told The Nugget, "We decided we wanted to honor her this year by having her work displayed for the month of July in the Lodge."
