Food Cart Garden hosts events

The Food Cart Garden at Eurosports has a variety of music planned for July and a new, free trivia night on Wednesday evenings.

"Last year we started with Friday-night music from 5 to 7 p.m.," said owner Brad Boyd. "It's a more convenient time for families and anyone who'd like entertainment during dinnertime. Then, they can go off and enjoy any other Friday-night plans they have.

The Food Cart Garden is hosting a weekly trivia night this year.

"When we started out, David Staley, who co-owns The Lot in Bend, told us that of all the events that he has for his food cart venue, trivia night was the most popular. He encouraged us to try it out. We've been getting a bunch of requests to do it," Boyd said.

Sign-ups start at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, and participants can compete on their own or as a team of up to four people. At 6:30 p.m., fun questions from a variety of different categories are asked. Scores are totaled and the winners are awarded prizes. The evening finishes up early - about 7:15 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.

The music is varied through the month.

Boyd says, "We try to get a variety of music and performers to meet everyone's tastes."

July 15 Mark Barringer of Bend plays. He also has a strong Sisters connection. He is Thompson Guitars' "Tone Tech" and an expert guitar player. According to Preston Thompson, Mark uses his deep experience and skill to check out all aspects of every guitar made to thoroughly test it for sound, resonance and quality. Mark brings these same qualities to his music: his skill at playing guitar makes him a "player's player."

Jim Cornelius and Mike Biggers will play on July 22, offering an acoustic mix of their original songs and covers of the greats of Americana music from Guy Clark to Steve Earle to Tom Russell.

A Sisters resident of decades, Tony Lompa spends much of his summer as the fire lookout at Hinkle Butte. His guitar playing and gravelly vocals have an ease about them as he effortlessly switches from Americana to covers to originals. He'll play on July 29.

Music is from 5 to 7 p.m. every Friday night; admission is free and the outdoor space at 223 E. Hood Ave. is dog-and family-friendly.
