Sisters Movie House hosts Beatles film

In the first of a number of "special-event" bookings planned at Sisters Movie House between now and the end of 2016, Sisters Movie House will screen director Ron Howard's documentary on the formative live-touring years of The Beatles, immediately following its worldwide premiere in London on Thursday, September 15.

The Beatles: Eight Days A Week - The Touring Years will screen at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the theater adjacent to Three Creeks Brewing Co. and FivePine Lodge. Tickets will be priced at $9 for all ages and are on sale from at http://www.sistersmoviehouse.com. The film is not rated but is suitable for young and old.

"Anybody who is even remotely a fan of The Beatles, their music, or the phenomenon of their impact on our culture will want to see this movie. And we'll have the movie showing here in Sisters within hours of the world premiere in London," said Drew Kaza, managing partner of Quoin Media & Entertainment, the company which recently acquired Sisters Movie House from original founder Lisa Clausen.

"This is part of our vision for expanding upon the good work that Lisa has done over the years," said Kaza. "We're trying to use our contacts and experience towards offering up even more exclusive and special content for the people of Sisters and Central Oregon as a whole."

The Beatles: Eight Days a Week - The Touring Years has been described as a labor of love by Howard. He cobbled together the movie over a number of years with the cooperation of the surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, as well as the wives of the late George Harrison and John Lennon. In addition, Howard and his production team pored over hundreds of hours of rare footage, much of it shot on 8mm "home-movie" film stock by fans in the 1960s who had attended the band's gigs from Hamburg to San Francisco.

The movie is being given an extremely abbreviated theatrical run before it is given over to the streaming service Hulu. Most theaters across the U.S. are only showing it for one or two days, although a handful are booking it for an entire week. Some of the bigger movie chains are refusing to exhibit the film because of the quick turnaround to Hulu.

"This will be the public's only chance to see it on the big screen - and it's a big-screen event," said Kaza. "Ron Howard directs movies for the purpose of people seeing them in the movie theater, otherwise, this would just be another TV show. We're very excited to be among just a handful of theaters in Oregon with this opportunity. Hopefully the discerning moviegoers of Central Oregon will agree."
