Outlaws continue winning streak

The Outlaws blanked the Sutherlin Bulldogs 10-0 at home in Sisters on Thursday, October 6. Sisters continued their domination of league opponents and remains undefeated on the season.

Sisters started their scoring in the first minute of the game when Keaton Green received a cross in the air from Sean Willitts and volleyed it over the keeper for the goal. In the sixth minute, the Outlaws struck again when Green hit a low hard cross from the right side to Jude Kokesh-Carhart, who chipped it over the keeper for the score.

Eleven minutes later, Alec Gannon took a pass from Green on a 45 from the right side for a tap-in goal.

Willitts ran the ball into the goal at the 24-minute mark, and four minutes later, Malachy Sundstrom received a pass, beat a defender, and struck a solid ball to the left corner from 15 yards out.

Sisters closed out the first-half scoring in the 32nd minute.

Coach Rob Jensen said, "Colby (Simeral) took a direct kick from right behind the half next to the Outlaws bench. I told him to put it right behind #14 at the 18-yard line so that Malachy (Sundstrom) could finish it. He was very coachable and Malachy scored."

At the half, the Outlaws were on top 6-0.

Four minutes into the second half, Green slotted the ball past the defense to Sam Garbrecht, who finished with a breakaway goal.

In the 54th minute, Gannon chipped the ball to the far post for a Sundstrom header-goal. Four minutes later, Sundstrom took the corner kick and Green headed it to the keeper. The keeper deflected it back to Green, who then headed it into the net and pushed the Outlaws to a 9-0 advantage.

Sisters' final goal came with 15 minutes left in the game. Austin Tolle fed a beautiful ball past a pushed-up defense for a breakaway goal by Ryan Funk.

Jensen told The Nugget that Alec Gannon and Keaton Green were spark-plugs for the team throughout the contest.

Of the game Jensen said, "The boys are all doing well, and they are persevering through injuries and illness. The team did a great job focusing on improving each other."
