News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Lady Outlaws snapped their losing streak with a 29-22 win at Sweet Home on Friday, February 3. Sisters has struggled the last several games getting the ball to fall through the hoop, but that all turned around for them on Friday night.
Sisters shut out the Huskies in the first quarter of play, and put up 10 points of their own to hold a 10-0 lead to close out the period. The Outlaws defensive transition was strong throughout the quarter and four different players, Amanda Smith, Olivia Hougham, Gracie Sundstrom, and Rylee Weber all scored points in the quarter. The team was patient on offense and put in good shots.
Play slowed down considerably for both squads in the second quarter. Sisters didn't put up as many shots and were only able to get three points in the period, and the Huskies only managed to put two points on the scoreboard
The Outlaws came out a little flat in the third quarter, but exhibited strong defense in the final period, which allowed them to post the win.
Smith scored 11 points in addition to eight blocks and eight rebounds. Weber contributed six points and freshman Riley Reese Morgan scored four points and pulled down two boards.
"I'm very proud of the girls and the way they played tonight," said Coach Alan Von Stein. "They played good team ball."
Sisters was to play at home against Cottage Grove on Tuesday, February 7. On Friday, February 10, the Lady Outlaws will travel to Sutherlin.
