Doris M. Bendt March 25, 1924 - November 3, 2016

Doris (Smith) Bendt was born in Cassville, NY on March 25, 1924. She was 10th born of 11 children and grew up living on a farm and attending school in a one-room school house. She felt so blessed all of her life for her beautiful upbringing in a rural setting with support and love from a large family. In March of 1945 she met the love of her life, Harry Bendt. They were married in June of the same year, moved to Chicago where Harry was discharged from the U.S. Army and started engineering school. In 1951 they moved to the Seattle area when Harry was hired by Boeing.

While Harry spent his career with Boeing, Doris kept very busy raising their 6 children.

She was an amazing mother and she dedicated her life to being just that.

After Harry retired they moved to Sisters in 1996.

They lived in a very rural setting enjoying the peace and tranquility of the forest.

They had done a fair amount of travel in their years, but especially after retirement, they traveled extensively across this great country in their motorhome which they loved so very much.

After Harry's death in 1999, Doris made the move to Redmond where she became very involved in her neighborhood and especially active in the senior activities nearby.

She played cards several times a week and spent her days being a wonderful friend and neighbor.

She loved being a part of City Center Church of Redmond.

Doris lived an amazing life to 92 years, 7 months and 9 days. She was a beautiful soul on every level. She had a faith that was an anchor throughout all of her years. She was an inspiration to all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her 6 children who cherished her: Suzanne, Wayne, Gene, Louise, Walt and Paul; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She has two living siblings, Vivian and Myrtle; and her youngest brother Eddie passed away 3 months after Doris' death at the age of 90.

Doris left her life on this earth peacefully at home and surrounded by love. Her hand was being held by her daughter as the chaplain and the angels transitioned her home. Special thanks to Hospice of Redmond for their special help and support.
