News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Stampede mountain bike race needs volunteers. From Thursday through Monday of Memorial Day weekend, the Stampede has positions for any level of involvement, from race day to post-race-day cleanup and restoration.
The Stampede is known for it's small-town hospitality, it's quality of course, and the friendly faces which support the event. The cross-country mountain bike race brings in over 500 cyclists, families, and spectators to enjoy the Peterson Ridge trail system on May 27 and 28.
The event is a season kick-off for local business, lodging, and dining. It has solidified the work of the Sisters Trails Alliance in developing the Peterson Ridge Trail as a beacon on a mountain biker's radar for a fast, fun, and flowing singletrack.
The Sisters community is a place where the locals take ownership in the keystone events as volunteers and helpers. Whether it's the Stampede, the Rodeo, Quilt Show, or Folk Fest there is a tremendous amount of work that goes on beneath the surface of the event. The Stampede is no exception. With proceeds going back to SPRD and STA, the Stampede gives directly to the community.
