News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters is getting tuned up for hot summer nights filled with music.
Cuppa Joe will hit the groove on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the courtyard at Angeline's Bakery & Café.
The fireworks really kick off on Saturday night, July 1 with Petty Fever at Hardtails Bar & Grill.
Petty Fever is the recipient of multiple awards, which include a 2017 Las Vegas FAME Award for "Outstanding Tribute Band" presented at Hard Rock Live in Las Vegas, and the 2013 and 2014 Los Angeles Music Awards "Tribute Band of The Year" Award presented at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood. They provide a stunning salute to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, performing over three decades of classic Petty hits such as "American Girl," "Free Falling," "Breakdown," "Running Down a Dream," "I Won't Back Down," "You Wreck Me" and many more to thrilled crowds of all ages.
The concert kicks of a series that will feature tributes to AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen and more.
Tickets are $10, available through BendTicket.com or $15 at the door.
The Food Cart Garden at Eurosports will contribute to the tributes with Beatles tribute band Juju Eyeball, returning with danceable and singable songs of the Fab Four on Friday, June 30, 5 to 8 p.m. On Saturday, July 1, 5 to 7 p.m., they'll feature the tight four-piece harmonies of Bittercreek, serving up originals and covers from Jimmy Buffett to the Eagles.
Mike Biggers and Jim Cornelius will turn a wine bar into a cantina at Cork Cellars on Saturday, July 1, 7 to 9 p.m. with originals and songs from the likes of Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle and Tom Russell.
Over at Sisters Saloon, the Tommy Hogan Band will serve up a tasty dish of blues, rock and R&B.
A little later in the month, on July 13, Joan Soriano from the Dominican Republic will perform with his band an authentic brand of "bachata" music, in the first of a series of free summer concerts at Fir Street Park, offered by Sisters Folk Festival.
Sisters is turning on and turning loose, acting on the age-old "Ripple" injunction: Let there be songs to fill the air.
