Country Fair and Art Show are on their way

This is Sisters' season of "right turns only" when every weekend offers a special outing and community fun.

That means it's time again for Sisters' Country Fair and Art Show. The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration on Brooks Camp Road will have its 22nd annual fair on August 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The juried art show begins on Friday, August 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., offering art from more than 40 Northwest artists. This year features acrylic artist Charles Chamberlain, and the 2017 juror for the show is JoAnn Burgess, an owner of Hood Avenue Art gallery.

The Art Show features diverse art provided by regional artists including oils, watercolors, pastels, photographs, sculptures, jewelry, Native, and textile pieces. A silent auction on Friday night and Saturday includes donated items from artists, friends of the church, and many local Sisters businesses.

Over the last few years, the Country Fair and Art Show has become recognized as one of the most significant events in the Sisters community. The attraction is in part from the purpose and generosity of all those participating, from the artists and volunteers to those who attend.

All proceeds and donations for this event are returned to the community through the church's outreach program. During the years, over $200,000 has been donated to support Sisters agencies such as Family Action Network, NeighborImpact, Sisters Habitat for Humanity, Arts Discovery, Circle of Friends, Bethlehem Inn and Saving Grace.

A Saturday on the beautiful grounds of the church is great fun for everyone.

The Country Store offers homemade preserves, jams and relishes, fresh produce, candy, pies, cakes, home-baked breads and cookies, potted plants, hand-made soft goods and craft items.

The Good Book offers a great selection of gently read books.

The Sweet Tooth Booth provides homemade marionberry cobbler with ice cream.

Face painting, a bouncy castle, children's games, cake walks, fire truck tours and animal petting works up an appetite for great food from Café Transfig.

Tour through the Art Show to purchase and view the winners with an ongoing silent auction rounds out this wonderful day. And all proceeds go back to the Sisters community.

Admission and parking to both the Art Show and Country Fair are free.
