News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Anne Marie Snow, 73, of Sisters, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2017, at home.
Born July 11, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, it did not take her long to become an adventurous girl who could traverse the urban jungle. As a tweener, Annie moved to Southern California where she quickly adjusted to her new surroundings. Though she dealt with some very adverse situations during her life, Anne was resilient, which definitely contributed to her feisty, friendly, fair, firm, and fun personality.
After relocating to Central Oregon in the early 1970s with her two kids, Kathy and Robert, and also Rodger Holcomb, whom she would soon marry, along came Michael to round out the family. During this time, Annie cherished her role as homemaker. While she especially liked nap time, her kiddos could not stand having to be so quiet because Anne could hear a pin drop. Kidding aside, her children considered themselves very fortunate that Annie was a stay-at-home mom.
Although tragedy struck in 1991 with Rodger's death, Anne powered on. She joined the workforce as a housekeeper at an assisted-living facility, an industry she would work in for the next 13 years. Through effort and with compassion, Annie advanced all the way up to a house manager position during this period of her life.
As luck would have it, Anne met David Snow in the mid-'90s. They had a lot of fun together and eventually got married in 2004. Dave not only showed Annie a lot of North America, but he also took great care of her, which is a testament to his awesomeness.
Annie's interests included spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching movies, listening to music, and dancing. She was an avid fan of her children, too, fully supporting them in all of their endeavors. Although her colorful vocabulary and the bright orange stocking cap that she often wore as a spectator to outside sporting events were quite recognizable, nothing outshone her fervent cheer. Undoubtedly, she empowered others.
Survivors include her husband, David Snow; three children and their spouses, Kathleen (Ervey) Dominguez, Robert (Jennifer) Holcomb, and Michael (Annette) Holcomb; two stepchildren and their spouses, Michael (Amy) Snow and Casey (Melanie) Snow; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her four siblings, Eileen Leinwand, Bill Mullens, Richard Mullens, and Rita Gassen.
A celebration of Annie's life was held on September 24.
