Girls soccer tallies first league win

The Lady Outlaws defeated the Huskies 1-0 at home on Thursday, September 21, for their first league win of the season. Two days earlier, Sisters fell 1-0 at Sutherlin.

In Thursday's win, Madilyn Larrabee scored eight minutes into the contest off an assist from Rylee Weber. Rylee was in the middle of the field, about 25 yards from the goal, and played a through ball to Madi, who took one touch, and stuck it away to the keeper's outstretched hands.

The game was back and forth the rest of the match, and Sisters held onto the lead to the final whistle. The Outlaws had a total of 14 shots on goal.

Senior Rylee Weber said, "We are a young team, but we are working hard. As we play each game we get better and better, and this game shows that."

Two days earlier, Sisters was defeated by Sutherlin. The Bulldogs scored on a scrappy goal in the 22nd minute of play. The Outlaws played hard, and according to Jacobsen were the better team, but unfortunately they just couldn't find the back of the net.

Rylee Weber had the best scoring opportunity in the 68th minute on a breakaway, but the Bulldog goalie made a nice save to keep the game a shut-out.

Isabelle Spitler went down with a rolled-ankle injury in the 27th minute.

"Overall, it was a tough game to lose, but we will bounce back," said Jacobsen.

The Outlaws are currently 1-1-1 in league play. Sisters was to play the Falcons at Elmira on Tuesday, September 26. The Outlaws will play at home against Junction City on Thursday, September 28.
