Outlaws post wins on soccer pitch

The Outlaws boys soccer team posted two wins to push their Sky-Em record to 4-1. Sisters recorded 1-0 victories over both Elmira and Junction City.

In Tuesday's action, the Outlaws posted a narrow 1-0 victory at home against Elmira. Sisters scored three minutes into the game when Ultra Nilrattanothai passed the ball across the middle to Skyler Larson, who played the ball forward to Asher Bachtold. Bachtold finished the string of passes with a shot into the upper-left corner for the score.

It was a great back-and-forth battle the remainder of the contest, and both teams missed some great opportunities. Samson Henneous did a great job in the goal for the Outlaws and prevented at least three close goals.

Henneous told The Nugget that one attempt by Elmira did take him by surprise.

"In the first half, Elmira took a shot at the goal inside the 18 down towards the bottom-left corner," said Henneous. "I was able to get to it at full stretch, and booted it out for a corner. Our team really played well, and controlled the game down to the last second."

"The boys really started to click on some combination passing that we have been focusing on, and it paid off," said Jensen. "We looked really good when we were connecting passes."

Two days later, the Outlaws recorded a slim 1-0 victory at Junction City. Sisters got their goal in the 60th minute when Colby Simeral assisted Asher Bachtold, who hit a curving shot from 25 yards out into the upper-right corner.

Jensen noted that Henneous had another great game in the goal, and Brogan Petterson played his best game of the season. Petterson played with great energy at outside-back, and shut down the Falcons' best player.

"Asher has really come on for us this past week with two goals, but the wins have really been a team effort all around," said Jensen. "Everybody has been getting involved, and we are passing the ball and possessing it well. The team is improving every game, and we're on track to make a run into playoffs."

The Outlaws are currently 4-1 in Sky-Em and 4-4 overall. Sisters will host Cottage Grove at home on Thursday, October 5. The game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
