Outlaws claim eighth straight volleyball title

Sisters' volleyball squad made quick work of the Tigers at Junction City (JC) in a 25-18, 25-14, 25-11 sweep that was over in 50 minutes. Sisters wrapped up league play with a 10-0 record, marking their eighth consecutive title.

After the long bus ride over the hill, the Outlaws came out slow and lacked motivation in the first set of the match. Once they woke up, it was all over for the Tigers. Everyone got time on the court, and the win was a total team effort.

In the final set, Sydney Head had a six-point serving run that sparked the Outlaws and gave them momentum to surge ahead and post the win.

Hawley Harrer recorded nine kills and eight digs, and Ashlynn Cantwell contributed 10 kills. Jessie Brigham had 12 digs in the match, and Ellie Rush tallied seven assists.

Coach Rory Rush said, "We distributed the ball nicely, and had some good hits from both Hawley (Harrer) and Ashlynn (Cantwell). Jessie (Brigham) provided solid passing from the back row."

Seniors Jessie Brigham and Hawley Harrer commented on their league play and the upcoming playoffs.

Brigham said, "This match was bittersweet knowing it was my last league game. It was exciting to get another league win, but the focus on our time off has to be precise and sharp as we prepare for the playoffs."

Harrer said, "I think league went really well. We kept our level high, and made sure we worked hard in practice. We are all excited for the upcoming games, and hope with hard work we make it to state. I think we will have to push ourselves to the next level in practice, but I know we're prepared for what's to come."

Coach Rush noted that the Outlaws will be hard at work in the gym fine-turning some key elements of their game; blocking, their offense, and hitting, as they prepare for their first post-season battle.

"We were able to go through league 10-0, and at times we found ourselves playing slow and unmotivated," noted Rush. "We need to come at practice with a new intensity and prepare for some tough competition ahead."

Sisters starts the post-season with a bye and will host the first round of the playoffs at home on October 28.
