News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
It's time to get ready for the annual Christmas performance at Sisters Community Church by the Sisters High Desert Chorale under the direction of Connie Gunterman.
This year, Lola Knox's Renaissance Sisters, Children's Choir, and High Desert Bell Choir, along with Peggy Tehan's ukulele players will also be taking part.
This year's performance has been named "Christmas Traditions," in which the chorale will be offering such dear old-timers as: "White Christmas," "Go Tell it On the Mountain," "Deck the Halls," "Some Children See Him," and "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." And the chorale part will end with a rousing audience sing-along of Christmas favorites.
There will be two performance of "Christmas Traditions" - one Friday evening, December 15, at 7 p.m. and again Sunday afternoon, December 17, at 2:30 p.m.
The Friday evening performance will begin with the Renaissance Sisters, a recorder group directed by Lola Knox. While the Sunday afternoon performance will commence with the Sisters Ukulele Group under the direction of Peggy Tehan.
On Friday night, the High Desert Bell Choir will be performing, and Sunday afternoon the Sisters Children's Choir will perform and be joined by the chorale for a few numbers.
Both Friday and Sunday performances are free, with all kinds of holiday goodies available during the intermission. If you have some loose cash in your pocket to drop in the hat when it goes past, that wouldn't hurt a thing.
Come listen and watch, both concerts promise to fill the Sisters community with joy, holiday cheer, and the loving Spirit of Christmas.
