Sisters Arts Association Fourth Friday Art Stroll

It's three days before Christmas and all through the town, folks are visiting galleries, up street and down! It's the monthly Fourth Friday Art Stroll through the galleries of Sisters, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 22.

At Hood Avenue Art, it's "Holiday Magic," as gallery artists exhibit handcrafted, original fine art. Drop by for refreshments and live music.

Simon Haycraft is an artist and a fisherman. He's fascinated with lakes and rivers and the creatures that inhabit them. His portraits of fish look real, like they are swimming in water. But, surprise, they are made of wood! Haycraft has been experimenting with wood as both a canvas and an integral part of his subject matter. See his work at Gary Cooley's Collection Gallery.

Clearwater Gallery artists are ringing in the season with the annual "Red Bow" sale. Give the gift of art, timeless and priceless. Gallery is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with wine and light appetizers.

Sisters Coffee is doing a happy hour featuring pottery by Laura Campbell of Sisters.

Sisters Gallery & Frame Shop is aglow with Kimry Jelen's colorful work, andJennifer Hartwig will be demonstrating scratchboard. Shop for last minute Christmas gifts including pottery, jewelry, and knitted hats.

Studio Redfield has new paintings by Randy Redfield and hand-painted ceramic tiles by Kibak Tile, open until 6:30 p.m. with light refreshments.

Delight a loved one with art or jewelry handcrafted by Native American and Inuit artists. Turquoise, one of the earliest gems ever worked into jewelry, is December's birthstone. Few jewelers inlay this stone better than Navajo Dee Nez, featured at Raven Makes Gallery. Enjoy hot cocoa at their fire pit.

"Moving Through Light," an exhibit at Sisters Art Works, invites you to experience the vibrant acrylic paintings of celebrated artist Pam Jersey Bird. Refreshments will be served and a beautiful fire pit will light the scene.

Cowgirls and Indians ReSale will be open, and Kate Aspen will show her red necklace series, along with authentic Native American squash blossoms, cuffs, and concho belts.

Celebrate the holiday with Wildflower Studio. Come by for last-minute gifts: hats, scarves, jewelry, prints, ornaments and more. Owner Chris Nelson has donated this month's Quick Draw, a $100 Gift Certificate for custom framing. Sign up once in each of the galleries as you stroll.

Grizzly Ridge Upcycle has new work - Amy Tatala-Beck's paintings on old windows and wood scraps from old fish-shipping crates; and Scott Lundquist's steampunk lamps from antique cylindrical record containers made by (Thomas) Edison Records.

Jill Neal Gallery has moved to 183 E. Hood Ave. This retail gallery space gives Jill a chance to display new gift items and original art in her abstract style. Check out the brilliantly colored equine line that emphasizes the spirited freedom of the horse, and new wine diva mugs.

Nature's Bling has Christmas deals all day on Friday, with some items up to 50 percent off. New products include fire agate, epidote in smoky quartz, double-terminated amethyst, and many agate and jasper bookends made on site. Also look for jewelry by Mani Purehart, a local silversmith and lapidary.

Last but not least, stroll down to Sisters Library, where you can see Caroline Stratton-Crow's watercolor and acrylic depictions of "Art in the Natural World" black-and-white photography by Katie Newton; papercuts depicting children and families from around the world by Carly Garzon-Vargas; and Kelley Salber's magical miniatures - books and book art.

Also open during the stroll are Beacham's Clock Company and Dyrk Godby Gallery. Maps are available in all galleries, along with sign-ups for this month's Quick Draw.
