News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A California man is in jail and a Sisters woman was taken to the hospital after a motor-vehicle crash on Locust Street early Wednesday morning, December 20.
According to Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant Mike Biondi, 25-year-old Breanna McClung of Sisters was delivering newspapers in a Ford Explorer at about 5:06 a.m., and was stopped on the southbound shoulder of South Locust Street dispensing papers when she saw a Subaru headed south on Locust at a high rate of speed.
The Subaru struck McClung's vehicle head-on with enough force to push it backwards over 30 feet on the snow-covered roadway, Biondi reported.
McClung was transported to St. Charles Medical Center-Redmond with non-life-threatening injuries.
Responding deputies arrested 55-year-old Timothy Yett of Yosemite, California, on charges of third-degree assault; driving under the influence of intoxicants; and reckless driving.
He was transported to jail with a bail set at $20,000.
Sisters Fire District personnel responded to the crash, which blocked the southbound lane of Locust Street.
