Deschutes County Sheriff's Office personnel deployed a robot and a muzzled canine to resolve a situation that evolved out of an attempt to serve a warrant in the Tollgate subdivision on Tuesday morning, March 20.
DCSO Sergeant Mike Sundberg told The Nugget that deputies attempted to serve a felony warrant for a drug-related parole violation on Sarah Rose Heisler, 38, on Silver Spur in Tollgate Tuesday morning. Heisler allegedly ran into her house and locked herself in a bedroom, then got down into a crawl space below the house.
Multiple units, including a K-9 unit responded to the scene. Deputies became concerned that Heisler might be suffering from a medical problem in the crawlspace, so they deployed a robot and a muzzled canine to investigate, Sgt. Sundberg reported.
The reconnaissance determined that Heisler was unresponsive and deputies volunteered to go into the crawlspace to pull her out. Medics responded to the scene and transported Heisler to the hospital for evaluation and treatment prior to her being booked into Deschutes County Jail.
Sgt. Sundberg praised the work of Deputy Keith Slater and the dog Brolo.
"The dog did a great job," he said.
