Phyllis G. Pintarich 1940 - 2018

Sisters resident Phyllis G. Pintarich passed away of complications of pancreatic cancer on March 22, surrounded by family.

She is survived by her brother Lawrence Gates; three daughters, Jennifer Humcke, Sarah Short, and Amy Hamilton and their families; and her extended family from her 30-year marriage to Stan Pintarich.

Phyllis was born in 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. She moved to Georgia after contracting polio, then the family moved to the California Bay Area where she was raised. In 1962, she received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Oregon where she joined Pi Beta Phi and remained an active member. 

She moved to Oregon in 1973 where she raised her daughters and worked as an administrative assistant for several local companies. As a loving mother raising a family, she was talented at sewing, cooking, and knitting. She always had an active social life, enjoying everything from the Pendleton Round-up annually, numerous Airstream rallies, taking family and friends on cruises, as well as attending the Sisters Rodeo. She even participated twice in the Glory Daze Sisters Car Show with her 1965 convertible Mustang.

After retiring to Sisters with her late husband, Stan, she developed a close circle of friends that became her local family. She was involved in the community through her knitting and quilting groups and was a founding member of the Hero Quilters of Sisters. She was incredibly giving and strived to ensure her family knew how much they were loved.
