News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Longtime Crook County resident Roger H. Baldridge went to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday, June 5 at the age of 80.
With his passing he is reunited with Beve, his wife of 52 years, and leaves behind a legacy of three daughters and their husbands; Shanna and Bryan Sproat of Powell Butte; Robbin and Vincent Foran of Dix, Il; and Brandy and Thomas Vernon of Eugene; five grandchildren, Shanntyl, Sheldon, Tony, Jessica and Lonny; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister Reita Evans; brother Ollie and his wife Bea; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Roger was many things over the course of his life: a 30-year career in the Forest Service, wildland firefighter, assistant volunteer fire chief, ambulance driver and a cowboy. He loved music from country to opera and had a fantastic singing voice. He enjoyed traveling and was always ready for the next adventure. He could often be found driving his tractor or greeting everyone with a joke and a smile every Sunday morning at the Powell Butte Christian Church. He never met a stranger.
He will best be remembered for his ready sense of humor, his cowboy hats, Ford pick-ups, rooting on his Seahawks and Beavers and always being there with a helping hand.
A most loved and respected husband, father and grandfather, he will be sorely missed. When the tears come just let them fall, and it's OK to smile and laugh, too! Celebrate a life well lived.
A memorial service will be held at Powell Butte Christian Church on Saturday, June 23, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his honor to the Powell Butte Christian Church Mission Fund, 13720 SW Highway 126, PO Box 2, Powell Butte, OR 97753.
