Former resident co-stars in TV show

A premier of a fall TV show featuring a former Sisters resident is being shown at the Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Hall community room.

Jenny Boyd, daughter of former mayor and local businessman Brad Boyd of Eurosports, is co-starring in a new TV show, "Legacies," on a major network this fall.

Boyd grew up in Bend and Sisters. She has been acting since age five in productions in Central Oregon. Ten years ago, she moved to London to pursue her acting degree. Out of hundreds who auditioned for the three-year program at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), she was one of 24 who got in. She graduated three years ago and then moved to Los Angeles. Since then, she has starred in the two feature-length films. Legacies is her first foray into network TV.

Legacies, a spin-off of "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," storyline is about the descendants of powerful vampire, werewolf, and witch bloodlines. It takes place at the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. According to Wikipedia, "The school provides a haven where beings such as vampires, witches, and werewolves can learn to control their supernatural abilities and impulses."

Boyd plays Lizzie Salzman, a witch. A character description says Lizzie is a "mean girl, where underneath bubbles a darkness that cannot go unaddressed. Given both her sinister lineage and the questionable biology that accompanies it, Lizzie possesses the power to render great harm unto the world if her behavior continues to go unchecked."

Boyd said, "It's been really fun to play a blonde instead of a brunette as well as an evil extrovert."

Boyd is impressed by how many people it takes to put together one show.

"It's such a huge team effort to make a weekly series - there are more than 300 people that are part of the production," she said.

Boyd has enjoyed getting to know her "twin" co-star Kaylee Bryant, as well as stunt double, and others on the cast and crew. Boyd recently attended ComicCon in New York, where the premier was shown and well received.

The premier will be shown at the Community Room at the Sisters Fire Hall on Thursday, November 1, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome and the event is free. Organizers suggest coming as you are - or dress up as a vampire, witch, or werewolf.

Legacies is on the CW network on Thursdays at 9 p.m. this fall.
