News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Martolli’s has new owners

Jennifer and Kelly Brock have recently taken the reins as new owners of Martolli’s of Sisters Authentic Hand-Tossed Pizza. Martolli’s was born when Mark Hedford and Brad Martell opened their doors in Sisters offering pizza by the slice in 2002. The popular pizza parlor has continued its commitment to the traditional perfected recipes and fresh ingredients since its inception.

Kelly noted, “Dawn Jones and Julie Prather were the previous business owners for the past six years. We’ve become friends with them both during the process of transferring the ownership.”

The Brocks have recently purchased property in Sisters and plan to build a home on the property in the next few months.

“We both are from small towns in the northwest and raised our kids in Camas, Washington,” said Kelly. “Jennifer and I both have always loved Sisters and Central Oregon. After retiring from 30 years as a mechanical engineer for Hewlett Packard, we were on a camping trip in Sisters, and it was at that time it became clear that this was the place we wanted to eventually retire.”

Jennifer added, “We love the small-town Western style that Sisters has to offer.”

Jennifer is a quilter and fits right into Sisters cultural arts scene.

She said, “I have attended Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show every summer. And while I was here, I would have pizza at Martolli’s and really liked it.”

The Brocks always enjoyed making pizza at home in their small stone pizza oven.

“We always considered switching over our previous business to pizza because we always loved to eat the pizza at our events,” said Kelly.

The couple owned a food truck business for over seven years and would set up at large events all over Southwest Washington and Portland.

Kelly noted, “Our biggest and most fun event was the Washougal Nationals where we met some of the best motocross riders from around the world. Serving coffee and donuts was a great experiment for our entire family. The business gave us the opportunity to teach our kids the values of serving the public and gave them experience in the future jobs.”

When Martolli’s came up for sale it was a perfect fit in a perfect location for the Brocks.

“The menu and all ingredients will remain exactly the same. Why change perfection?” Kelly told The Nugget.

What’s new? They will be offering delivery every day, from 3 to 8 p.m. and will continue to offer takeout.

Martolli’s of Sisters Authentic Hand-Tossed Pizza prepares dough and sauces fresh daily. Pizzas are hand-tossed in the traditional way and baked in old-fashioned slate ovens.

“Fortunately, the pizza business is doing good during the pandemic and offering delivery should also be good for us and the community,” Kelly said.

The best way to order for delivery is on the slice app on their website, www.martollisofsistersmenu.com.

As for the Brocks favorite pizza: Pepperoni, mushroom and olives.
