Prescribe fires scheduled south of Sisters

There will be smoke on the Sisters skyline on Wednesday and Thursday, as fuel specialists will conduct prescribed burning operations approximately seven miles south of Sisters adjacent to Forest Service Road (FSR) 16 and near Melvin Butte.

Specialists will underburn approximately 197 acres on two units. Ignitions will begin at 9:30 a.m. each day. Smoke will be visible to residents of Sisters and nearby areas.
