News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Outlaws’ football squad honored their 11 seniors prior to Friday nights game against Pleasant Hill, and Coach Gary Thorson had praise for each one.
Hudson Beckwith plays at running back and also at linebacker, and was an all-league running back last year as a junior.
Thorson said, “Hudson has become one of the most explosive players in the conference. He’s a leader on and off the field, and his work in the weight room in the offseason has paid off for him in a big way. He also leads the team in receiving yards this season.”
Landon Scott plays as a wide receiver and a defensive back.
“Without a doubt Landon is one of our hardest workers and a great leader on the team,” said Thorson. “Landon made an immediate impact on the program when he decided to play football last year as a junior. He’s a tireless three-sport athlete for Sisters High School. He was an all-conference wide receiver last year and continues to be one of the top players in his position in the league.”
Dawson Roberson also plays as a wide receiver and defensive back.
“Dawson was an all league defensive back for the Outlaws in 2023, and is a threat to score every time he gets his hands on the ball,” said Thorson. “This season Dawson has contributed on both sides of the ball and his exciting style of play and fun-loving demeanor adds greatly to our team culture.”
Kale Mock plays as a running back and defensive back.
Of Mock, Thorson said, “Kale has battled back from a season-ending injury last year and has become one of the most feared running backs in our conference. While possessing one of the most chill and relaxed personalities you would ever meet, he runs the football with great vision and passion, and is a threat to score every time he touches the ball.”
Kolbi Cotner is also a running back and defensive back.
“Kolbi is one of the Outlaws’ best all-around players,” said Thorson. “The past two seasons he has been a standout on offense, defense, and special teams, and last year he was named all-league at defensive back. His off-season commitment to training has made a huge difference in his game and he is a physical presence on both sides of the ball.”
Kale Gardner plays tight end and defensive back.
“Kale has been a standout defensive player for us the last two seasons and this year has become our starting tight end, and is also a big contributor on special teams,” said Thorson. “Kale plays with a high level of energy and enthusiasm and has a great desire to not only compete, but compete at a high level.”
Joe Souza plays at running back and safety.
“Joe is one of our fastest players as evidenced from one of his kickoff returns a few weeks ago,” said Thorson. “He plays running back and safety, and has been a big contributor on special teams and his positive attitude and willingness to help out anywhere the team needs is a blessing to the team.”
Wyatt Shockley plays on the offensive and defensive line.
“Wyatt has improved greatly since his first season and this year has started a few games for us on the defensive line,” said Thorson. “His work in the weight room in the off season has really paid off for him and also provided depth for us on the offensive line.”
Antonio Guzman is also an offensive and defensive lineman.
“Antonio is one our most loved players on our team,” said Thorson. “His positive attitude and effort he brings to practice and on Friday night is inspiring to his teammates and coaches and pound-for-pound he is one of the strongest players on the team.”
Garrett Sager plays on the offensive line and also as a linebacker.
“Garrett saw the need for more help up front on the offensive line and made the move to offensive tackle from tight end, where he has become one of our best linemen,” said Thorson. “Garrett is an unselfish player and has provided great leadership on our offensive line, and has been a huge help for us on the defensive side of the ball from his linebacker position.
Cade Lindsey rounds out the seniors and is another player who plays on the offensive and defensive line.
“Cade came back out for football after being away for a few years and has found a way to contribute to our program from day one,” said Thorson. “He is a team player and always willing to help out anywhere he can.Cade has improved each and every week at his defensive end position. Kade is a true Outlaw and a leader in the building for Sisters High School as well.”
